WE REMEMBER & WON'T FORGET is a creative poetry and reminiscence project in 2025 with Roman Hill Primary School Year 5BD and Hildesley Court retirement home in Lowestoft, led by Poetry People's Dean Parkin & Naomi Jaffa with film-maker Julian Claxton recording the process. The project began with Hildesley residents using archive photos from the Jack Rose Collection to inspire memories of entertainments in Lowestoft — the electric boats in Kensington Gardens, the Carnival, and long hot summer days on the beach.

This was followed by two sessions with Roman Hill pupils, exploring the same archive photos and the memories of the older Lowestoft residents, plus their own experiences of today's leisure scene in the town. They shared the things they won’t forget: trips to the cinema, Pleasurewood Hills and the First Light festival.

The result is a new poem celebrating Lowestoft's leisure and entertainment activities, past and present. The poem is featured in three beautifully designed postcards and an accompanying slideshow film, both of which will be showcased in a pop-up shop in the town's High Street (No.91) in February 2025.

We Remember & Won't Forget is part of the Lowestoft Town Hall redevelopment project which is a Lowestoft Town Council initiative supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Towns Fund and East Suffolk Council
